Every year since 1975, the Professional Pest Management Alliance and Pest World have marked April as National Pest Management month. After more than 50 years, you might think their job is easy, but a recent study found only 52% of American households use professional pest care.
This year’s theme is “Pest Management Protects,” which certainly fits with the mission and model of Good News Pest Solutions. We aim to bring the good news of the Gospel to people across the Gulf Coast of Florida while providing the best, most reliable and greenest pest control that’s safe for the whole family.
Every Crack & Crevice
One of the major differences between doing your own pest control and hiring a professional is experience and attention to detail. The very first thing we do for every new client is inspect their home and property. We can, and do, remind people to check and seal all entry points, but it’s actually more work than you’d expect.
Many of the pests we deal with are able to squeeze into the tiniest of spaces. They also enter in places a homeowner might not expect, like where your electric, cable or telephone lines enter your house – even if you no longer have a landline! Once these bugs are in your house, they’re harder to get rid of, especially once they start reproducing.
We do a full inspection of the outside of your home and recommend sealing every one of those access points, no matter how small. It’s all part of our Green Perimeter Plus service. And if you upgrade to one of our Term Assure termite solutions, we also install termite monitoring stations around your property, so we’re the first to know there’s an issue.
Countertops, Closets & Pantries
We hate to burst your bubble, but even the cleanest home in the world is still at risk for many of the common pesky bugs we find. Now, by no means are we telling you that cleanliness doesn’t matter – it does! The cleaner your house is, the better chance of keeping it insect-free and the quicker you’re likely to notice an incursion. But don’t beat yourself up if you’ve washed and sanitized on a regular basis and you’re still dealing with ants, spiders, and roaches.
This is another advantage to having a professional on call. We can find the source of the insect infestation, as well as put preventative measures in place even before you spot the problem. We’ve spent more than 35 years researching and providing the best, most effective pest solutions, and we always strive to use green treatments. We want to be good stewards of our planet and protect it, while also avoiding the harsh chemicals that can be even more dangerous for the homeowner and their family as the bugs we’re trying to eliminate.
Bugging Out
Our Green Perimeter Plus solution targets the bugs we see most often that people want out of their homes.
The cockroaches we most often see in Florida homes are the American or Smokybrown. In the Sunshine State, these may also be referred to as palmetto bugs. They have wings. They enter your home through small access points or can be carried in accidentally in cardboard storage boxes. They love crumbs, dropped food, and uneaten pet food. They prefer wet, dank areas, so look for them most often in your bathroom or garage.
Outside your house, be on the lookout for red imported fire ants. You do not want to get stung by these aggressive nesters. Inside the home, we have a whole variety of ant species that could be traipsing across your countertops - Ghost Ants, Carpenter Ants, White-Footed Ants, Big Headed Ants, Crazy Ants… the list goes on and on. You can do your research, but it’s easier to call someone like us to take care of the issue.
Yes, we know spiders aren’t insects. And despite our best, ongoing efforts, we know it doesn’t matter that spiders are actually helpful 99% of the time. You still find them creepy and want them out. For the record, most spiders do not bite humans and when they do, it’s rarely dangerous. But the ick factor wins out, so we handle eight-legged “bugs” too.
For more details, we are happy to coordinate a conversation between you and one of our highly trained field technicians who can answer all your questions. We can also coordinate that call with scheduling your first appointment. Don’t be the 48% who struggle with pest control on their own. Please give us a call!
And by all means - come back next week to learn about some of the other pests we handle.
