What Is T·A·P Insulation?
Thermal Acoustical Pest Control Insulation (also known as T·A·P®) is a type of blown-in insulation that is imbued with organic, biological treatment products that kill bugs that try to move through it. This is an extremely unique type of pesticide for any property in that it is not a supplemental treatment added to a perimeter, but rather a pesticide that works symbiotically with a necessary feature for any home or business—your insulation.
The secret to this product is a specialized form of boric acid—an extremely common household material derived from boron and found in everything from contact lens solutions to saline eyewashes to typical detergents and cleaning products, including those used to sanitize the food we eat. While this material is perfectly safe for use around pets and people, it is lethal to insects and bugs. This makes it a great material to use for indoor pest control products that pest control professionals use to treat baseboards or cabinets throughout homes and businesses. By lightly imbuing the paper fibers of your attic insulation with boric acid, this product then spreads boric particles to bugs that try to move through it. As these bugs “groom” themselves, they ingest these particles, which eventually exterminates them.
