Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Good News Pest Solutions Team November 25, 2021

It’s a time of peace, reflection, gratitude, and, of course, football! While we’re sure many of you will be tuning in to see the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys continue their decades-long Thanksgiving game tradition, here at Good News Pest Solutions, we prefer to focus on the first three items on our list.

Peace

Despite the cultural trope of Thanksgiving dinners chock-full of family drama and conflict, the reality is most of us enjoy spending time with our families. Expressing our love for each other and our thrill of being able to get together and enjoy a meal together. For many families, Thanksgiving is one of the few times all year they get to see distant friends and relatives.

In the Bible, the Apostle Paul writes to the Philippians, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Peace is an inherent part of Thanksgiving – even if it’s just the peace of everyone passed out full of turkey and pie.

Reflection

As we approach the end of the year, and without the busyness or party atmosphere of Christmas and New Year’s Eve, Thanksgiving is the perfect time to look back and think about everything that’s happened. While we normally think of the good things – the tradition of going around the table and saying what we’re thankful for – it can also be good to consider the challenges we’ve faced. Reflection allows us to place them in context. Maybe we’re still going through them but now we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Often we see what looked bad at the time was for our benefit.

And of course, reflection almost always leads to our favorite part of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Gratitude

We’ve already mentioned that popular family tradition – and indeed, it’s almost impossible to celebrate the holiday without expressing gratitude. After all, it’s right there in the name – “Thanks-giving.” No offense to the poultry and side dishes but gratitude is the central aspect of the holiday.

As Americans, we are grateful that we live in a free country, able to live, move and worship as we see fit. From the earliest celebrations of Thanksgiving before our great nation was even born, we have been grateful to God and our neighbors for the ability to come together to offer assistance, express concern, and share our lives.

On Thanksgiving, especially, we should convey to our family and friends and the Lord how much gratitude we have for them and what they mean in our lives.

As usual, Good News Pest Solutions will be closed on the holiday as well as Friday so our employees can enjoy the time with their family. Whether you’re a current, past or perhaps future customer, we are thankful for you this Thanksgiving season. And we hope you find yourself with family and friends who love you.

Happy Thanksgiving!
